Pass the Bucket @ Hip Tot

ALB.bucket4MJ

We just got word that Active Labor Gown is donating 30 buckets to Sunday’s Hip Tot Music Fest, each with chalk or bubbles in them, for their Pass the Bucket campaign. But that is just the beginning of this beautiful concept! The buckets will be displayed around Littlefield you can put things in or take stuff out and at the end of the show the buckets can go home with anyone who wants them and they can then pass it on to someone else! It’s a random act of kindness that will bring everyone a little joy! Don’t you love it???

So come on by Littlefield (622 Degraw St) for the Hip Tot Music Fest Mother’s Day show with The Trummytones at noon and bring something special to put in the bucket, enjoy something from the bucket, or just share what’s in the bucket.
Here are some suggestions for things to bring to share:
  • music CD
  • a toy your child doesn’t play with anymore
  • something you bought at the store like bubbles
  • paper
  • crayons
  • a book
Each bucket will have hashtag like #bucket1, 2, 3 etc. so you can take a picture and follow where the bucket goes on twitter, instagram or wherever those hashtags go!
For this show we will not do goody bags but will do plenty of good!!!

Meet Pistachio on Sunday!

Back when I had my store, Still Hip, a good friend of mine told me she wrote an interactive musical about recycling and composting for kids and wanted to perform it outside the store. What? Heck yeah!

Fast forward a few years… Emmy’s play, Pistachio, is going strong! This year and last she received small grants from the Brooklyn Arts Council to perform the show at the Imani Garden in Crown Heights. But come to Hip Tot on Sunday and get a sneak peek as Pistachio will be performing a number at our show!

More Than Just Music…

I am so excited that my good friend and incredible artist Monica Rodriguez will be joining us at the show on Sunday! She will be doing demos of her artwork and doing crafts with the kids before and after the show.

Anyone who’s been to my apartment knows how important color is to me so you can understand why I adore Monica’s work. She takes found objects and collages them in brightly colored recycled paper. The results are extraordinary! Brilliant colors with somewhat recognizable objects that you just want to love. Recently she started a series of shoes which includes baby shoes. Maybe we’ll get lucky and she will bring some with her so we can check them out! Hint, hint if you are reading this Monica. ;)

Meet Monica on Sunday, March 10 in the vendor area. Doors open at noon.
