Hip Tot Music Fest (hiptot.com) was asked to produce a monthly series of Family Days at Park Slope’s famed beer garden, Greenwood Park. The 13,000 square foot indoor / outdoor restaurant, bar and beer garden is the ‘in’ spot for thousands of local families. Greenwood Park was voted 2013s ‘Best Kid-Friendly Bar’ by The L Magazine. In an effort to make families feel even more a part of the scene, Hip Tot Music Fest will provide music, story time, giveaways and crafts on the last Sunday of July, August and September, with a new theme each month.
The event had write-ups in The New York Post, TimeOut Kids, New York Family, MommyPoppins.com, AchildGrows.com, igoKids.com, and SouthSlopeNews.com to name a few. TiimeOut Kids sent a photographer to document the day and has a slideshow on their website. CLICK HERE TO CHECK IT OUT!
Our main sponsor for this event was Plum Organics, a natural snack company for kids. They joined us with their Camp Amazing caravan of fun! A 45’ trailer traveled from California to NY stopping at zoos, parks and other family friendly venues on the way. They filled Greenwood Park with super hero arts and crafts, games about nutrition, a photo booth that encourages being amazing and, of course, free snacks.
Author and illustrator Melanie Hope Greenberg read two of her most popular books, “Mermaids on Parade” and “Good Morning Digger”. Lucky folks got signed copies of “Mermaids on Parade” before she sold out! After Melanie’s story time local musician Amelia Robinson, creator of the Mil’s Trills music series, did a sing-along with great participation.
There was an incredible raffle with over $1400 worth of prizes.

We had some creative vendors that truly completed the day. Kings Bay YM-YWHA provided a mini soccer clinic while promoting their summer camp. Good Eggs , a new farm to table online shopping business, brought some incredible s’more and apple pies as well as coupons for everyone. Carpingo, Brooklyn’s very own car sharing service, was on hand to give everyone $75 worth of free driving and some lucky folks even got free sunglasses. You child could be registered with NY Life so there is always a way to keep track of them. KidVentures NYC let everyone know about their exciting summer camp program.
All in all the day was incredible and we are excited to continue the series for the next two months. We hope you will join us!
